Classic Canes Limited is a British family business that specialises in the design and wholesale of quality walking sticks to the retail trade. Known as "The Rolls-Royce of Walking Sticks" and based in Somerset, England, Classic Canes supplies a range of over 500 walking sticks, seat sticks and umbrellas to retailers in approximately 30 countries worldwide. The range includes everyday walking sticks, fashionable patterned canes for women, orthopaedic walking sticks, collectors’ and folding walking sticks, contemporary and traditional seat sticks and shooting sticks, and a capsule collection of ladies’, gentlemen’s and golf umbrellas. Classic Canes celebrated its 40th anniversary in September 2022, having been established in 1982 by Ben and Diana Porter. Today, it is a second-generation family business, with their daughter, Charlotte Gillan, acting as managing director. Charlotte grew up with the business and returned to work in it full time in 2003 bringing with her the experience gained during a career in luxury goods marketing. As well as working with a range of hand-picked factories and workshops to create the brand's traditional and contemporary canes, she also paints the original artwork for many of Classic Canes' patterned walking sticks. The inspiration for many of these is found in the Somerset countryside around Classic Canes, ensuring the firm's products have a particularly British style that appeals to professional buyers and walking stick users around the world.
